U13s A Match Report: 13th May 2018

Kings Lynn’s Third ECRHA under 13s tournament of the season was at Bushfields Sports Centre.  The team were up against ECU Blue, Letchworth and Peterborough

First game was against Peterborough. With a good start to the game it didn’t take long for Ria Griffin to find the back of the net. Growing in confidence the team added a second goal, again through Ria Griffin. Peterborough then pulled one back. King’s Lynn piled on the pressure scoring another goal by Ria Griffin making it 3 – 1. With King’s Lynn defence losing concentration Peterborough scored and at half time the score stood at 3 – 2.

Half Time: King Lynn 3 – 2 Peterborough

The second half saw King’s Lynn come out stronger and with some good play by King’s Lynn Alfie Poppy added a fourth goal for the team. Two minutes later Alfie Poppy scored again. Peterborough found the back of the net again making it 5 – 4 and keeping Lynn’s lead to just one goal. King’s Lynn dug deep with Alfie Poppy scoring again with four minutes left. Peterborough weren’t giving up and piled the pressure on Kings Lynn, but Imogen Senter in goal made some great saves to keep Kings Lynn in the game. With only a minute left on the clock, both Ria Griffin & Aflie Poppy scored their fourth goals of the match.

The second game was against top of the table Letchworth. King’s Lynn started positively with some good play, but with Letchworth started piling on the pressure and King’s Lynn found themselves 1 – 0 down. With King’s Lynn trying to pressure their opponents, Letchworth counter attacked and scored their second. Letchworth piled more pressure onto King’s Lynn. Imogen Senter made save after save to keep King’s Lynn in the game, however with two minutes left of the first half Letchworth scored a third.

Half Time: King Lynn 0 – 3 Letchworth

Second half, King’s Lynn tried to get back in the game which left them open at the back and Letchworth took advantage by scoring two more quick goals. Letchworth put King’s Lynn under pressure again and again. Goalkeeper Imogen Senter (GK) played well and saved many shots throughout the second half. Alfie Poppy scored a consolation with 30 seconds to go.

Third Game was against ECU Blue. King’s Lynn started well with some good play but just couldn’t find the back of the net. With both teams playing an attacking game King’s Lynn found them short at the back, which allow ECU to score. King’s Lynn weren’t letting ECU have it easy and scored themselves with four minutes of the first half left. Growing in confidence King’s Lynn kept attacking which again left no defence for the King’s Lynn goal keeper and ECU scored another.

Half Time: King Lynn 1 – 2 ECU Blue

King’s Lynn came out in the second half determined to score more which they did scoring through Alfie Poppy but ECU scored again to regain their lead 2 – 3. With end to end play and some fantastic saves from Imogen Senter it spurred King’s Lynn on and Alfie Poppy found the back of the net again to level the score at 3 – 3 with two minutes left. King’s Lynn pushed for the win which left them open at the back allowing ECU to score two more times.
