The Kings Lynn Premier League side faced Grimsby in their latest fixture in the Premier league and were keen to continue the fine season they have been enjoying.
A fast start was important against a Grimsby side who challenge year after year for the title. The hosts were on the scoreboard within eight minutes through Josh Taylor after a successful counter attack. Lynn doubled their lead again through Taylor and soon had a third on the board, this time through Matt Baker after breaking clear to finish powerfully into the top of the net. Josh Taylor then added his third and Lynn’s fourth before Jack Tucker rounded off a fine first half performance by adding to the score to take Lynn into the break five goals to the good.
Half Time: Kings Lynn 5 – 0 Grimsby
Into the second half and Lynn found themselves on the back foot as Grimsby pushed to get themselves back into the game. Tom Allander in the Lynn goal kept the travelling side at bay after pulling off a string of fine saves. Seven minutes into the second half and Lynn added their sixth goal again through Taylor. The home side maintained their dominance from then onwards and Owen Norris who would later be voted man of the match added two goals of his own to get himself off the mark for the club’s premier league side. Lynn then introduced young goalkeeper Josh Roberts to the game who put on a fine display to keep the clean sheet after some strong pressure from Grimsby.
Final Score: Kings Lynn 8 – 0 Grimsby
An excellent performance from all involved in a fast paced game from start to finish. Lynn continuing the unbeaten run and will look to carry their current form into next week’s National KO cup 1st round match Vs Letchworth RHC.
