Premier League Report:
Kings Lynn RHC vs Grimsby RHC
In the most recent premier league fixture Kings Lynn took on high flying Grimsby RHC. With little to tell the two teams apart from looking at the league table it was destined to be an entertaining match.
From the outset the game was very much possession based. Both teams exchanging the ball very well between themselves and looking to capitalise on mistakes of their opponents. First on the score sheet was the home side. Jamie Griffin dispossessing the Grimsby defender on the half way line to break clear and clinically finish into the net. A second goal soon followed from Josh Taylor, again regaining the ball from a mistake by the travelling side wrong footing the defender and the goalkeeper to then find the net.
At 2 – 0 up Kings Lynn were playing with confidence and again found the net, this time through Ryan Barnes who found himself unmarked at the far post to finish first time powerfully past the on looking Grimsby keeper. With ten minutes still to play in the first Lynn weren’t quite finished on the goal front. On this occasion Sam Kay was on hand to put the hosts 4 – 0 up!
Half Time King’s Lynn 4 – 0 Grimsby
Into the second half and the visitors were hungry to get back into the game. Lynn expected to be pressured and they weren’t wrong. Will Martin in the home goal doing everything within his power to deny the visitors kept the score at 4 – 0. Kings Lynn’s patience on the ball and in their build up play soon paid off. Grimsby accumulating ten team fouls giving Josh Taylor the opportunity to double his tally from a direct free hit. The chance was taken and Lynn now had a solid lead of five goals.
Grimsby were reluctant to lie down and continued to press to get themselves back into the game. Eventually with a couple of minutes left on the clock Lynn couldn’t hold them off any longer. A shot from distance was cleverly deflected into the top corner of the net. Lynn weren’t finished and were soon celebrating again, this time Michael Carter popping up to get his name on the scoresheet. Having been played through to be one on one with the goalkeeper he made no mistake and found the net to take the game to a final score of 6 – 1 in favour of Kings Lynn.

An excellent performance against a Grimsby side who only 2 season ago were crowned premier league champions. Going into the second half of the season Lynn are in a good position and will be looking to continue their good run of form in the upcoming fixtures.
