Premier League Report:
RHC Invicta v King’s Lynn RHC
On Saturday 7th May the premier league team endured the long journey to Herne Bay to take on their latest opponents RHC Invicta. In the previous fixture Kings Lynn took an 11-0 win and they were hoping for much of the same upon arrival.
The games started brightly with the travelling side dominating the early possession stats and were soon on the scoreboard from the penalty spot through Josh Taylor. A second goal soon followed this time through Sam Kay. RHC Invicta who were playing with a much stronger side than in the first meeting of the two sides were quick to hit back to bring themselves within a goal. Lynn remained in control and managed to pull a further few goals ahead through Matt Baker. Despite Invicta then grabbing a second goal, the away side went into the break with a comfortable 6-2 lead.
Half Time RHC Invicta 2 – 6 King’s Lynn
Into the second half and the game continued in the same fashion. Much of the ball being seen by the away side and the home goal being pummelled with efforts from all over the rink. The score line kept totting up and it wasn’t too long before another Lynn player had his name on the score sheet. This time Michael Carter finishing from a well-executed set play. Although Lynn kept adding the goals so did the hosts, some slack defending allowing them round the back to find the net in rather simple fashion. Going Into the last 10 minutes of the game, Lynn were simply enjoying themselves. Matt baker doubled his tally to two, Sam Kay took his total to 4 for the game and Josh Taylor finished the game with 5 goals.
Despite the score line flattering the away side, the game was very close at times and Lynn were made to work hard to find the goal. A win that sees them continue their fine season and improve their form going into the final few games of the season.
