Premier League Match Report: 14th February 2015
10 King’s Lynn RHC 7 – 0 Club Santacruzense
King’s Lynn premier league team returned home to Lynnsport for their game against London team Santacruzense in the national premier league.
Good possession from the home team did not lead to an early goal despite several attempts. The visiting team playing a tight box, defended very well and this proved to be difficult to break down. The breakthrough was eventually made after a good bit of pressure from the home side which resulted in a clever pass being made to the far post for a simple tap into an empty net. Lynn remained on top after this and the next goal was soon on the board, Sam Kay with a shot from the centre of the rink proved to be to accurate for the opposing Goalkeeper to handle. After some more good build up play and a change in players for the home side the third goal followed shortly after.
A comfortable 3 – 0 lead was taken into the half time break.
The second half saw the home team increase the tempo in an attempt to try and catch the away keeper out of position but some fine saves were made to frustrate Lynn’s players.
Eventually Lynn found the net with what was called goal of the game by head coach Chris Kay. Some slick passing between the four players on rink resulted in space being created in the penalty area for Jamie Griffin to convert with a smart finish. Now Lynn were in firm control and could begin to play with more freedom.
With the away side now tiring, the gaps began to emerge. Matt Baker cleverly finding space in the penalty area to finish to bag himself his first premier league goal for the club. Two more goals were to follow, both coming from Josh Taylor, one being from again some good passing play, which led to a leak in the Santacruzense defence. No mistake was made and the ball was placed neatly into the roof of the net.
A clean sheet was a positive outcome for Lynn with their keeper remaining focused and pulling off some crucial stops at points in the game that ensured Lynn stayed on top. Final score 7-0 to the home side.
