u13’s Match Report: 30th November 2014
The Kings Lynn under 13’s (Minors) team maintained their 100% record this season thanks to four more excellent wins at their home tournament.
In our first game against Letchworth, Ethan and Ryan both scored two goals apiece to take us into the interval 4 – 1 up. In the second half, Letchworth fought back strongly and put some pressure on, with two quick goals, but our youngsters stepped up a gear and with a brace from Fin and another goal from Ethan, Lynn took the victory 7 – 3. A great start to the day.
Our second game was against Peterborough, the only other unbeaten team in the league. We expected a tough encounter, however after a slow start Joseph scored a well taken goal and then Ethan added another before half time making it 2 – 0. In the second half, our defence were determined not to make any mistakes and put us under any pressure, they stayed solid throughout, and when Jason found himself in front of goal he latched onto a re-bound and smashed it into the net giving the keeper no chance. Another three goals were added by Ethan, Ryan and one from Ria right on the final buzzer and gave us a fantastic 6 – 0 win.
Next up were a young Walpole team, and with a final game against a strong Sudbury team coming up later, we needed to keep all the players fresh, so lots of rotation meant a bit of a scrappy game. Taking that into account, we always looked in control, and with Josh in goal keeping another clean sheet the game ended 5 – 0 to Lynn.
In the final game of the day against Sudbury the whole team were really on form. Some excellent passing and movement, great goalkeeping and a very solid performance throughout gave us the points with a 5 – 1 win with three goals from Ethan and two from Fin.
So after a fantastic day, Lynn top the league with 7 straight wins and also games in hand over the other teams.
Well done to you all!
