Bury Home Tournament

Our EC division 1 team took to the rink for the first time this season in the Bury home tournament at Ross Peers Sports CentreEastern Counties Roller Hockey Association

Match 1: King’s Lynn v Soham

In a rematch of what was last season’s cup final Lynn took on Soham.

Lynn who had only four outfield players available on the day took the lead through a smart finish underneath the Soham goalkeeper within the first 10 minutes of the match. Lynn then controlled the game and maintained their lead until half time.

In the second half it was much of the same with Lynn seeing plenty of the ball, however they were unable to convert the chances created. Soham then found the net on a couple of occasions in quick succession, taking them into a 2 – 1 lead. Soham then played tactically and ran out the clock to give them the win from the first match.

Match 2: King’s Lynn v Letchworth B

In our second match was against Letchworth B.

With Letchworth’s team now a mixture of youth and experience, Lynn needed to be switch on from the start. A couple of early goals was the plan from the outset and this is exactly what happened. This set Lynn in good stead for the duration of the match.

The second half was where Lynn really found their feet and exposed the Letchworth side on numerous occasions to convert many different breakaway chances. The final score 9 – 3 to Lynn.

Match 3: King’s Lynn v Bury

The third and final game took place against Bury.

With the Lynn team now tiring due to a lack of players an early goal was conceded within ten seconds of the first whistle. Following this goal, Lynn regrouped and an exciting game was about to be displayed. With end to end play the score going into the final thirty seconds had Bury leading 4 – 3. Lynn struck with the equaliser!

An exciting finish to a day of mixed fortunes!

Well done to the four players and two goalkeepers which made up the side for the day.
