The day looked like being a tough one with key players unavailable through injury and work commitments.

The team travelled with just four outfield players meaning substitutions and line change would not be possible.

First game of the day was against the home team Ely & Chesterton Utd.

Lynn started slowly knowing they needed to conserve energy but this was not the way the team were used to playing . The home team settled quickly and soon had a goal on the score sheet. Lynn struggled to get into the game and looked to be making hard work of a game they would expect to win even with a depleted team. Unusually for the team individual goals got Lynn back into the match with a couple of solo efforts from Matt Baker. ECU Utd levelled the match just before the break. Lynn started the stronger team in the second half and gradually started to dominate the home team. Again the game did not flow but goals from Zak Robinson and Millie Twidale put the team firmly in the driving seat. The game finishing 7 – 2 to Lynn.

Final Score: ECU 2 – 7 Kings Lynn

Next up were fierce rivals Letchworth, current league champions and probably favourites to take the league again.

Lynn set out with a game plan to defend strongly, frustrate the opposition and score with counter attacks. The game going to plan goalkeeper, Josh Roberts, had a busy first half as Lynn soaked up the early pressure. Letchworth could not beat the keeper and according to plan became frustrated and wreckless. Lynn were now well into their stride and started to pick off the opposition at will. Josh Horn and Owen Norris combined well and soon a brace of goals each. Millie Twidale popped up at the far post with a goal just before half time to send Lynn in 5 – 0 up at the break. Letchworth managed a reply soon after the break but Lynn kept their cool and added a further five goals for an unbelievable result of 10 – 1. The game was a complete contrast to the first of the day. A truly great team performance making it impossible to pick a man of the match.

Final Score: Kings Lynn 10 – 1 Letchworth

Lynn played Sudbury in the final match of the day and cruised to 5 – 2 victory.

Final Score: Kings Lynn 5 – 2 Sudbury

A great start to the season and something very positive to build on.
